Sevilla

View from La Giralda

This is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. I only spent two days there and I wish I had more time. One of the nicest things to do in Sevilla is to walk around and enjoy the beautiful architecture. Specially the Barrio Santa Cruz, you will find a labyrinth of alleys and old buildings. You will see many cute squares such as Plaza de Santa Cruz and Plaza de los Refinadores. It is also in there that you will find the impressive Cathedral de Sevilla. The constructions is dated back to early 16th century and in 1987 was registered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful construction that must be seen. Attached to the Cathedral is the bell tower called La Giralda with a remarkable view of the city, you have to climb up approximately 35 series of ramps (not stairs) making an easy climb. The view is totally worth it!

Plaza da España

I saw Plaza da España in a movie and that is the whole reason why I added Sevilla to my bucket list. I am glad to say that this place did not disappoint. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of this plaza. I spent a couple of hours strolling around observing all the beautiful details – there are many. The landmark was built back in 1929 for the Ibero-American Expo and to this day continues to be one of the most beautiful places in Sevilla. You can also rent small boats to row in the canal – the Plaza is known as “the Venice of Seville”. The construction is inside the Maria Luisa Park the main green area in the city. The park is a perfect spot to sit down and relax. When I went there I brought some pastries with me and had a small picnic!

Metropol Parasol

When walking around Sevilla you will for sure see the Parasol (also knows as Las Setas de Sevilla) this big wooden constructions was completed in April 2011 and created by the German architect Jürgan Mayer. For a 3 euro entry fee you can go all the way to the top of the construction and have a nice panoramic of the city. I read that it is a really nice spot to see the sunset. However, when I tried to go around that time the lines were too big so I decided to visit once at night and a second time during the day.

Flamenco

Andalusia is the center where Flamenco was born and a visit to Sevilla is not complete without you seeing a proper Flamenco show. I went to the Casa de La Memoria and I saw one of the most beautiful performances of my life. During the whole show I had chills all over my body. It was so powerful and emotional that I can`t recommend it enough. I heard there are two other good places to see Flamenco in the city : La Casa Del Flamenco and Flamenco Museum. Since I loved the dance so much, I booked an Airbnb experience for a Flamenco class. It was so much fun and I would recommend for people that like to dance.

Isabel Bridge

On the other side is Triana

Another incredible part of Sevilla is the waterfront located in the center of the city. It is a perfect spot for a relaxing walk or even for biking. There you will find the Isabel Bridge that connects Sevilla to the Triana neighborhood. On the other side of the bridge, in Triana you will find a bohemian vibe with local bars and the Triana Market, an indoor market with several stands offering local produce.

DAY TRIP TO CORDOBA

Tip: If you have extra time during your visit to Sevilla you can do a day trip to Cordoba. The train ride takes about 40 minutes. The city also has it`s charm but if I had to choose I would have spent more time in Sevilla 🙂 . During my day trip, I visited the beautiful Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. As the name already mention, the building is a mixture of two distinct architecture – one part looks like a Mosque and the other looks like a Catholic church. It is a very beautiful place and I highly recommend a visit!
