Montreal

I have been to Montreal in two different seasons: fall and winter. They allowed me to see two different facets of the city. The first time I visited Montreal I had only a Saturday and half of a Sunday. It is not enough time to visit everything so I took one of those hop on- hop off bus tour. I believe that is the best way to explore the city if you have limited time.

Tip:  you can do the hop-on hop-off the first day to get an overview of the city and the second day visit those places you liked the most.

I had the chance to see the main sites in Montreal such as The Old Port of MontrealSaint Joseph`s Oratory, Mccord Museum, and many others. My second day in the city I walked around Old Montreal, specially the known area called Place Jacques Cartier . In this area I found a restaurant called Jardin Nelson with a beautiful garden and great jazz music. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not open during winter because most of the sitting area is outdoor and the gardens can`t survive the Canadian winter. It is a beautiful restaurant with a great variety of food, I highly recommend it.

My second time in Montreal it was very cold but the city was equally beautiful. However, if I have to pick the weather I would choose the time when is warmer. It gives you a cleaner version of the city and you are able to see every detail that may be covered by the snow during the winter. Yet, I had a great time during the Christmas festivities. The city has a lot to offer for those that love this time of the year. My first night there I saw the Natrel Fire on Ice which is a display of beautiful fireworks at the Old Port. It happens every year during the Holiday season. Around that same area I took a ride in the observation wheel and saw a beautiful panoramic view of the city.  They also have an ice skating rink right under the wheel. It is a fun time for everyone.

On my second day in Montreal I visited the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts , this museum has beautiful and intriguing exhibitions for all tastes. It was one of the best art museum I`ve ever  been to. You should not miss it.

At night I went to the Mont Royal where you will find the Kondiaronk Lookout. I recommend this place to watch the sunset or to see the city lights at night.

One of my favorite places in Montreal is the  Notre-Dame Basilica. With a Gothic aesthetic this is one of the most impressive churches I have ever seen. This spot should definitely be on your list when you visit the city.

Montreal has so much to offer. It is a beautiful city that mixes the modern and the old together. Just by walking around the different neighborhoods of the city you will find beautiful and interesting things to see and do in every corner.
